Cyto-Q® is reduced-form Ubiquinol (CoQ10) Medical Food. An easily absorbed form of Ubiquinol can support patients with compromised Mitochondrial systems. Cyto-Q has many advantages for use, such as a small volume for pediatric or small daily doses of Ubiquinol. Another advantage includes being in convenient liquipacks that help provide individual, pre-measured doses to patients.
What form of CoQ10 is used in Cyto-Q®?
Cyto-Q delivers CoQ10 in its reduced form of Ubiquinol, which is more easily absorbed and utilized. The most common form is Ubiquinone, but it needs to be converted to Ubiquinol in the body before being absorbed. Persons with compromised mitochondrial systems have been shown to be inefficient at this conversion.
How much Cyto-Q® is in a liquipak?
Each liquipak of Cyto-Q® has 10 mL of liquid and delivers 80 mg of ubiquinol.
How much Cyto-Q® should I take each day?
Daily intake should be determined by your healthcare professional specializing in mitochondrial disorders. The dosage required varies by many factors and must be determined by a medical specialist. Cyto-Q ®is not meant for the general population. It’s designed for use under the guidance of a trained healthcare practitioner.
How soon after the Cyto-Q® liquipak has been opened should it be consumed?
Cyto-Q® liquid is stable in an opened packet, as long as it is sealed tightly after drawing out the desired quantity of liquid. Twelve hours is the maximum time the liquid can be kept in an opened liquipak.
How does Cyto-Q® taste?
Cyto-Q® has been designed with an orange-pineapple flavor system to make the product more palatable for oral feeding.
Can Cyto-Q® be used in tube feeding?
Yes, Cyto-Q® is soluble and will readily mix into tube feeding liquids. It has been flavored to match the requirements for oral feeding, but can be readily used for tube feeding.
How should I consume Cyto-Q®?
Since Cyto-Q® is flavored, you can take it directly by mouth or add it to any beverage or tube feeding. Stir well and then consume.
How soon after the Cyto-Q® is added to juice, a tube feeding formula or another liquid, does it have to be consumed?
Once diluted and added to juice, tube feeding formula or another liquid, Cyto-Q® needs to be consumed within a two to three hour period.
How should Cyto-Q® be stored?
Cyto-Q® liquipaks should be kept in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not store the liquipaks in the refrigerator.
How do you know if Cyto-Q® has been oxidized (exposed to air for too long)?
Cyto-Q® is a milky white color. When exposed to air for too long, the liquid will turn an orange color. The orange color indicates the medical food formula has been oxidized.
Why does the color of the liquid vary from batch to batch?
Color variation in different batches of Cyto-Q® is due to the nature of CoQ10, or the reduced form of ubiquinol used in the supplement.
How much carbohydrate does one Cyto-Q® liquipak contain?
Each liquipak of Cyto-Q® contains 0.002 g carbohydrate.
Is Cyto-Q® tested for allergens?
Cyto-Q® is allergen tested at No Detectable Limit (NDL) for egg, dairy, fish, crustaceans, gluten, corn, and tree nuts. This product has been tested GMO-free. It does contain ingredients derived from soy.
Does Cyto-Q® contain artificial or natural coloring?
Cyto-Q® does not contain any natural or artificial coloring.
Does Cyto-Q® contain an artificial sweetener?
Cyto-Q® contains sucralose.
Is Cyto-Q® nutritionally complete?
Cyto-Q® contains ubiquinol only. It is not a source of vitamins and minerals. Cyto-Q should not be used as a sole source of nutrition.
