Description

PreKUnil® is a Medical Food containing phenylalanine-free, large neutral amino acid (LNAA) tablets allowing individuals with proven PKU to follow a more flexible diet plan. PreKUnil® tablets are suitable for all types of Phenylketonuria (PKU), including late-diagnosed PKU and Hyperphenylalaninemia (HPA). Prekulab’s pioneering and advanced PreKUnil® LNAA tablets are clinically proven to reduce Phe transport across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and has been successful for PKU patients for more than 30 years.

Directions for Use

Use as prescribed by your metabolic specialist. PreKUnil® must be supplemented with a moderate restricted PKU-diet, vitamins, and minerals by individual needs. A typical dose is 0.5 tablet per kg body weight per day, supplemented with a meal or directed by a physician. Dosage is dependent on the patient’s age, body weight, medical condition, and individual phenylalanine tolerance. The phenylalanine plasma concentration should be monitored regularly and kept below 1500 μmol/L. PreKUnil® can also be combined with an ordinary amino acid mix. Not suitable as a sole source of nutrition.

Storage

Store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight. When not in use, reseal and keep container closed.

Warning

For individuals with PKU only. Do not use PreKUnil® tablets if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy. If you become pregnant, stop taking PreKUnil® immediately and consult your doctor.
