Hyperlipidemia

High levels of fat in the blood is known as hyperlipidemia. These fats consist of LDL and HDL cholesterol, and triglycerides. Excessive fat in the blood may lead to atherosclerosis, the accumulation of cholesterol-rich fatty deposits in human arteries. The resultant narrowing or blocking of blood vessels can impair the flow of blood to vital organs, most notably the heart and brain. Untreated, atherosclerosis can result in coronary artery disease, leading to a heart attack; or a stroke if the brain's blood supply is compromised.

Solace Nutrition has developed LDL Care, a medical food for the dietary management of congenital errors of lipid metabolism, including hyperlipidemia. This product helps lower LDL cholesterol (known as bad cholesterol) levels by reducing cholesterol absorption from foods. LDL Care contains plant stanols and sterols (extracted from coniferous trees (Pinus sp.)), combined in a proprietary formulation of approximately 85% sterols and 15% stanols.

Available for purchase only on behalf of individuals under medical supervision and current medical care, LDL Care is allergen-tested at no detectable level (NDL) for eggs, dairy, fish, crustacean, soy, corn, gluten, tree nuts, and peanut. It is also free of GMOs and artificial flavorings.
