Cyto-Q Range
General Information

Mitochondrial disorders result from a decrease in the ability of the mitochondria to make energy in the form of adenosine 5'triphosphate (ATP).
Mitochondrial disorders often affect tissues that have a high-energy demand, such as the heart, brain, eyes and skeletal muscles.  Read more

The goal of using Coenzyme Q10 (Cyto-Q, Cyto-Q t/f or Cyto-Q MAX) is to increase ATP production. Coenzyme Q10 is often used in the treatment of oxidative phosphorylation disorders.

Coenzyme Q10 levels within the body typically begin decreasing as early as age 20 years. The body's ability to convert these declining levels of ubiquinone into ubiquinol is also diminished with age. Without proper levels of these vital substances, the body produces less energy and lacks a strong defence against oxidative stress.

For those who are still able to convert ubiquinone to ubiquinol, supplementing with ubiquinone should be sufficient. However, those who are over 40 years old or suspect their ubiquinol production may be diminished due to disease or oxidative stress should consider supplementing with ubiquinol to raise their plasma levels and help produce ATP most efficiently.

The liposomal ubiquinol solutions for Mitochondrial Cytopathies

Cyto-Q, Cyto-Q t/f and Cyto-Q MAX (ubiquinol) are the only liposomal encapsulated CoQ10 medical foods for the dietary management of Mitochondrial Cytopathies. These liposomal formulations of reduced Co-enzyme Q10 (ubiquinol) have a greater bioavailability and antioxidant role than the conventional ubiquinone used in commercially available CoQ10 preparations.

Cyto-Q, Cyto-Q t/f and Cyto-Q MAX as Medical Foods
Solace Nutrition has partnered with the leading Coenzyme Q10 manufacturer, Tishcon to develop the Cyto-Q range of formulations. Tishcon has been awarded Orphan Drug (FDA) designated status for Coenzyme Q10 in the treatment of Mitochondrial Cytopathies. Cyto-Q, Cyto-Q t/f and Cyto-Q MAX are to be used under medical supervision in the dietary management of very rare and serious mitochondrial disorders and other metabolic disorders, where patients are not capable of producing enough coenzyme Q10. Cyto-Q, Cyto-Q t/f and Cyto-Q MAX must be prescribed by a metabolic specialist or neurologist. Read more

Benefits of Ubiquinol

  • Achievement of higher blood CoQ10 levels using far lower doses
  • Excellent safety records
  • Decrease in serum lactate
  • Improved exercise tolerance
  • Increased muscle strength
  • Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy improvements
  • As a cellular antioxidant, effectively suppresses free radicals and increases mitochondrial energy production
